Wayne Community Schools Early Learning Center
Wayne, NE | Summer 2025
42,500 sq. ft. New Construction
The Wayne Early Learning Center was designed as an imaginative and inspiring place for young learners, where architecture supports curiosity, creativity, and growth. Natural light fills the building through clerestory windows accented with dichroic glass, casting shifting color across vibrant interiors layered with playful graphics and childlike lettering.
The use of insulated precast concrete and locally sourced heavy timber creates a durable, sustainable building while bringing warmth and character to the learning environment. Versatile classrooms and shared spaces were designed to adapt to a variety of learning styles and evolving educational needs, ensuring long-term flexibility for the district.
Through thoughtful material selection, light, and color, the Early Learning Center becomes more than a school, serving as a welcoming and resilient environment that encourages exploration and nurtures the limitless potential of young learners.
