Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office

Papillion, NE | 2011
35,000 sq. ft. – Main Building
5,700 sq. ft. – Garage Building

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, serving Nebraska’s fastest growing county, had outgrown its operational space located in the lower level of the county jail. Following the recommendation of their 50-year courthouse campus master plan, the County determined that the department should relocate to allow for needed future jail expansion.

A planning group was formed consisting of key members of the Sheriff’s Office, Administration, Facilities Management and Information Systems Departments. This group met with CWPA’s design team regularly to evaluate sites and develop a state-of-the-art law enforcement facility. Sarpy County also desired for this facility to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. The site was selected for its strategic location a major east/west connection between I-80 and I-29 and a strong contender for the future metropolitan Omaha loop road-south section.

The inclusion of state of the art technology and planning for potential future needs was a high priority to the department. A high capacity underground fiber optics data link was constructed between the Sarpy County Courthouse Campus and the project site with ultra-high bandwidth data cabling installed throughout. Meeting/training rooms were outfitted with multiple audio-visual equipment options.

Wireless links were established between the facility and enabled patrol vehicles. Additionally, the building was outfitted with a leading edge site security/surveillance system.
