Omaha Public Schools Boyd Elementary School
Omaha, NE | Fall 2019
38,000 sq. ft. Renovation
20,000 sq. ft. New Addition
CWP partnered with Omaha Public Schools and Jacobs Project Management on the complete renovation and expansion of Boyd Elementary School. The project began with a comprehensive assessment of Fire, Life Safety, Safe Area, Security, and Technology systems to ensure the facility meets or exceeds district standards. CWP and its engineering partners also provided analysis and recommendations for designated storm shelter spaces.
The renovation included new roofing, finishes, ceilings, lighting, and upgraded mechanical, electrical, and sprinkler systems throughout the building. The former media center was converted into office and staff support spaces, while existing classrooms were reconfigured to create larger Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten rooms. The 20,000 sq. ft. addition provides new general classrooms, an art room, media center, restrooms, and alternate curriculum classrooms. A portion of the addition also serves as a storm-safe area for the entire school.
