CWPA worked in conjunction with project management firm Jacobs on the complete renovation of Boyd Elementary School. CWPA is providing Fire, Life Safety, Safe Area, Security and Technology assessment. This includes the coordination of analysis of existing fire alarm system, sprinkler system, and security door hardware including card key access to ensure these buildings meet or exceed the district standards. CWPA along with structural engineering consultant is also providing analysis and recommendation of safe area storm shelter spaces.

Based on the building analysis study and student/staff needs, the entire school is undergoing renovation. New roofing, floor and wall finishes, ceilings, lighting, sprinkler, and mechanical and electrical systems will be provided throughout. The media center is being converted into additional office and staff support space.  Existing, undersized, elementary classrooms are being combined and converted into larger Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms. The 20,000 square foot addition will house media center, art room, general purpose classrooms, rest room, and alternate curriculum classrooms as well as staff support spaces. A portion of the new addition will also serve as the storm safe area for the entire school.

This project is currently under construction and expected to be ready for students at the beginning of the 2020/21 school year.
