Milford High School Renovation

Milford, NE | 2014
27,332 sq. ft. – Renovation
6,900 sq. ft. – New

Carlson West Povondra Architects has built a relationship with Milford Public Schools since 2006 and have successfully completed 5 projects together. At the High School CWPA has assisted Milford in their continued efforts to maintain and upgrade their facilities.

The initial project included in-filling a building-locked courtyard that had become an aesthetic and maintenance issue for the school. The 6,900 sq. ft. in-fill included a general purpose classroom, science lab, family & consumer science lab, and corridor with student lockers. Exterior windows were replaced with translucent Kalwall window units to increase the energy efficiency of the existing exterior walls. CWPA worked closely with Nebraska Assistive Technology Partnership to provide an ADA compliant cookstation with roll-under sink and prep island in the FCS lab and to renovate multiple sets of restrooms for ADA compliance.

The most recent project renovated the current office to incorporate updated equipment and technology that the school had been in need of for several years. The modifications increased the visibility from the office to the corridor system to maximize visitor and student safety. The teacher lounge was renovated with new finishes and cabinetry. Upgrades to corridors included new lighting, fire suppression and HVAC devices, carpet, and paint.
