Hampton Public School
Hampton, NE | 2017
18,675 sq ft renovation
25,000 sq ft new addition
Carlson West Povondra Architects worked in conjunction with Hampton Public School District to provide a Facility Planning Study and subsequent successful bond promotion. The planning study included a facility analysis to provide the district with recommendations for potential improvement projects at the existing school or new construction projects.
Through a survey process, CWPA garnered from staff and the administration their perceived deficiencies and inefficiencies within the current facility and their desires and priorities for improvements. CWPA also performed field observations and reviewed existing construction drawings. Facilities were analyzed for Building and Fire & Life Safety code and ADA guideline compliance. CWPA developed an Architectural space plan and preliminary plan concepts to provide probable construction costs for improvement and new construction options. Working with members of the school district’s building committee and the school’s fiscal agent, CWPA has provided reports, drawings, and support data for the successful passing of a Spring of 2016 bond issue.
The construction project includes new administration/office area with gatekeeper secure main entrance; new competition gymnasium with boys, girls, and coaches locker rooms; new music and kindergarten classrooms; and new public restrooms. Renovation areas include Pre-k through 6th grade classrooms, special education classroom, community fitness area, cafeteria, kitchen, and concessions.
