CWPA and partnering firm provided a comprehensive Master Plan for the renovation and re-utilization of the vacant Thomas Fitzgerald Building, the former state veteran’s home.

Our firm’s role in this effort was as programmer, designer, and contract document production and coordination. We met with selected Douglas County departments; created, reviewed and edited space programs and provided concept plans for each.

Programs that were developed for the Douglas County Departments included:

• Treasurer
• Environmental Services
• Sheriff Department
• (CSI, K-9, SWAT & Cyber Crime)
• County Attorney (Morgue)
• Assessor
• Health Department
• GIS
• Register of Deeds

After program development, our firm provided conceptual design layouts for each department within the existing facility. These layouts served as the basis for the Master Planning Document.

From the Master Plan Document, Douglas County authorized the first phase funding which included development of the existing west wing and a new addition.

This project provides a new regional Forensic Services Laboratory, SWAT, and K-9 component for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department. Our firm provided design, contract document and construction observation services in association with our parterning firm.
